New generation takes the helm at FBR Seed

FBR Seed is delighted to announce a new senior team, with the promotion of Stewart Seed to Managing Director as founder David Seed transitions to the role of Chair.

Stewart will assume the day-to-day management of the business, becoming the second generation of the Seed family to lead the company. He will drive the firm’s strategic ambition to cement FBR Seed’s position as Scotland’s leading bespoke estate management specialist. David will continue to support the leadership team in an advisory capacity, while maintaining his hands-on approach with long-standing clients.

A Chartered Surveyor with over a decade of experience, Stewart joined the family firm as a Rural Surveyor in 2014 and was appointed Director in 2022. He is a Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a RICS Registered Valuer.

Over the last three decades, FBR Seed has built a solid track record supporting a diverse portfolio of clients throughout the Scottish Borders, Dumfries & Galloway, Lothians, Angus, Fife, Aberdeenshire, and Northumberland.

Operating from their HQ in Kelso, FBR Seed currently employs 27 members of staff, with expertise across all rural services.

“Many of the team and our clients have been with us for over 20 years, and we’re committed to preserving these valued relationships while enhancing our offering. This has been a crucial factor in FBR Seed’s success over the past 30 years and will remain so in the decades ahead.”

David Seed added: “Stewart has worked closely with me for the past decade, and is exceptionally well prepared to become Managing Director, supported by our expert board of directors.

“This is a very proud moment for me, as it was always my hope that the business would transition to the next generation. My own father, Francis Seed, was a valuer, so it is wonderful to see this expertise continuing. It’s an exciting time for FBR Seed and I look forward to seeing where this new era takes us.”

David began training and working with James Leeming in 1992, and took on the business in 2004, rebranding as Seed and Co. In 2019 the business merged with Kelso-based firm, FBR to become FBR Seed. Further expansion came with the acquisition of Haddington-based Ogilvy Chalmers in 2022 and SM Murray in Hawick.

Today, FBR Seed is a leader in bespoke estate management and professional rural services, including surveying, property sales and lettings, diversification and renewables, environmental and subsidies support, accounts and wages.
